I remember reading at the time that newspapers are safe and most of them now use soy based inks. http://www.metro-dc-lawn-garden-blog.com/2010/11/26/thanksgiving-lasagna/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838654939610805161.post-15602300131671012092011-11-03T03:51:14.977-04:002011-11-03T03:51:14.977-04:00Seeking advice: we are considering using the "...Seeking advice: we are considering using the "lasagne" method this fall/winter to create a new planting bed where there is now "lawn" (weeds really). Have seen demo using layers of newspapers then leaf mold, compost and soil to build the bed. This method is supposed to kill all the "grass" under it and break down over the winter. This sounds like a great solution to the site we are considering. My only concern is about the ink and any other chemicals in the newspaper and the effect that might have on the resulting soil. Anyone researched this?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838654939610805161.post-47000736551832865872011-11-03T03:50:58.550-04:002011-11-03T03:50:58.550-04:00The same idea is put forth in E.O.
